23 February 2018, the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus took part in the Winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (Vienna, Austria).
Members of the Belarusian delegation to the OSCE PA attended the meeting of the General Committee of the OSCE PA on Political Affairs and Security.
Boleslav Pirshtuk stated about the necessity for a coordinated approach and joint actions by all the OSCE participating states and partners of the OSCE in countering transnational challenges and threats to security. He called on the members of the Assembly to effectively implement the existing confidence-building measures, to carry out their activities in the framework of the OSCE commitments in order to expand the efforts of the UN in this direction. The head of the Belarusian delegation expressed hope that the resolutions adopted at the 26th annual session in Minsk on such topical issues as the response to the emergence of new psychoactive substances, the prevention of the sexual exploitation of children in the Internet and other would serve as a further boost for the expansion of cooperation between the OSCE participating states in the field of information and communication technologies.
Boleslav Pirshtuk also took part in the Special Debate of the General Committee of the OSCE PA on Political Affairs and Security: “Arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation: challenges and opportunities for the OSCE area”.
Taking into account the key role of the OSCE in the field of conventional arms control and confidence and security building measures, Boleslav Pirshtuk expressed support for the structured dialogue on current security challenges and risks in the Organization.
The issues of participation of the Belarusian delegation in the activities of the Assembly and the interaction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus with the International Secretariat of the OSCE PA were discussed during the meetings of the Belarusian parliamentarians with the leadership of the OSCE PA.
The Belarusian parliamentarians held meetings with heads and members of the delegations of Armenia, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Sweden and other OSCE participating states and discussed topical issues of the inter-parliamentary cooperation in the OSCE PA.All news
