29 August 2017, in the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus,had a meeting with parliamentary delegation of Poland led by Ryszard Terlecki, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

The sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the development of trade and economic cooperation.

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, welcoming his Polish colleagues, expressed his hope for the continuation of constructive dialogue and productive cooperation, considering this visit as a good opportunity for improving political and business relations. Boleslav Pirshtuk paid attention to the fact that parliamentary contacts with the Republic of Poland have significantly intensified over the past few years. The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives believes that mutual support in international parliamentary organizations is also an effective tool for strengthening the relations between the parliaments of Belarus and Poland.



The Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland reminded that he visited Belarus a year ago. According to his words, last year our relations developed quite intensively. Ryszard Terlecki noted that Poland and Belarus are situated in different political zones, but the world is changing, and Belarus continues to be an important neighbor for Poland, as our countries share a common history, culture and similarity of languages. Ryszard Terlecki convinced that the two countries need to work for a joint perspective on the development of relations, so that the interaction between parliaments and states become wider.



From the Belarusian side the meeting was attended by Valery Voronetsky, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs, Andrei Naumovich, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media, Head of the Working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to maintain contacts with the Parliament of the Republic of Poland, Olga Popko, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs.
