From May 25 to 27 May 2021, Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on State Building, Local Government and Regulations Valentin Semenyako and member of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus on ideology Sergei Syrankov took part in the international observation of the presidential elections in the Syrian Arab Republic.
During their stay in Syria the Belarusian parliamentarians met with the Speaker of the People's Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic Hammouda Sabbagh, Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf, Minister of Education Darem Tabbaa. Parliamentarians visited a number of polling stations in Damascus and its environs, as part of the monitoring of the elections, where they observed the organization and voting process, got acquainted with the activities of precinct election commissions for the presidential elections in Syria.
