October 25, 2019 Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko, at the margins of the XVIII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, met with the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Roger Nkodo Dang.
Vladimir Andreichenko noted the importance of the role played by African states in the Non-Aligned Movement, and reaffirmed the interest of the Republic of Belarus in developing comprehensive cooperation with the African continent.
The Republic of Belarus has established diplomatic relations
with 48 states of Africa. The National Assembly of Belarus has formed 9 working
groups for interaction with the parliamentarians of Algeria, Angola, Egypt,
Zimbabwe, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Sudan and South Africa.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives emphasized that one of the main priorities in this work is to actively promote the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic ties and humanitarian cooperation.
We would like to reach a new level of cooperation, which is characterized by the emergence of strong industrial and technological ties, explained Vladimir Andreichenko and expressed confidence that regular meetings with colleagues from the Pan-African Parliament could help to solve this problem.
In turn, the PAP President showed great interest in developing relations with the Belarusian Parliament, strengthening relations between the countries of Africa and Belarus in the fields of industry, agriculture, mining, education, health, youth policy and gender equality.
The PAP President was positive about the prospect of the Belarusian Parliament acquiring observer status in this organization, and also expressed his intention to invite the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to attend the next session of the Pan-African Parliament and to speak to its members in order to convey the proposals and initiatives of Belarus to all African countries at once.
