On 15 April 2021, the fifty-second plenary meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) was held.
One of the important topics of the plenary session is the legislative regulation of migration processes during a pandemic and the role of the parliaments of the CIS Member States. As a result of its discussion, a model Migration Code for the CIS Member States was adopted.
The session also considered a number of important laws in the social and health sectors. These were the model laws «On ensuring children’s rights to health care in the CIS Member States», «On psychiatric care and guarantees of citizens’ rights in the provision of such care» and «On clinical guidelines for the provision of medical care in the CIS Member States».
The participants also discussed the preparation for the IX Nevsky International Ecological Congress to be held on 27 — 28 May 2021 and the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum to be held on 13 — 15 October 2021.The results of this year’s election campaign observation were analysed and a number of other issues were considered.
On 15 — 16 April 2021, the results of the IPA CIS events were briefed where it was noted that despite all problems the activity of the Assembly was dynamic and effective. The IPA CIS has become a really international platform, which helps to solve many problems. Representatives from more than 40 countries participated in the international conference “Global Challenges and Threats in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Terrorism and Violent Extremism».
Also, within the framework of the plenary session, a solemn ceremony of awarding the IPA CIS Chingiz Aitmatov Prize to the Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gnilomedov was held.
The plenary session was attended by the Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on State Building, Local Government and Regulations Valentin Semenyako.
