On 21 January 2020, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko began his visit to the State of Israel to participate in the events of the International Leaders Forum dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp.

Vladimir Andreichenko took part in a mourning rally held in the grove of memory «Yar Kdushim» near Jerusalem. The event was organized by the All-Israel Association of People from Belarus. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Israel Evgeny Vorobyov, the core group of the previously mentioned organization and of another one, «Beit Glubokoe».

In his speech, the Chairman of the House of Representatives noted that the Second World War claimed the lives of every third resident of Belarus, radically reshaping the national and ethnic composition of the country's population that has developed over the centuries. Such familiar concepts as Jewish localities were destroyed for Belarusians, and the dreaded words «ghetto» and «death camps» were introduced into use.

Andreichenko stressed that Belarusians will always perceive the bloody events behind the word «Holocaust» as a personal tragedy that should never happen again. He expressed gratitude to the natives of Belarus, who cherish the memory of the tragic pages of their joint history in Israel. The monument in the grove of memory «Yar Kdushim» contains land from the Minsk ghetto, the Trostenets death camp, from Bronnaya Gora, as well as from the destruction sites of Jews in Berezino, Krasnopol and Cherikov.

He recalled the unfadable act of courage of Belarusians and Jews who deadly fought against the Nazi, fighting side by side in the ranks of partisan units and the Red Army, and the heroism of ordinary Belarusians who risked their lives to save thousands of Jews from imminent death.

The Belarusian State is doing its utmost to preserve the memory of those times, the Chairman of the House of Representatives said. More than 500 monuments in our country remind of the victims of the Holocaust. Many of the existing memorials were created with the support of Jewish families and public organizations.

To memory of the tragic events of the Second World War, Vladimir Andreichenko passed the organization «Beit Glubokoe» land from the burial places of prisoners of the Glubokoe ghetto, where more than 10 thousand Jews died, and places of mass destruction of Jews from the settlements of Plissa and Prozoroki of the Glubokoe district.

In addition, the Chairman of the House of Representatives laid a wreath at the memorial on behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus in commemoration of more than 850 thousand Belarusian Jews who died during the Nazi occupation.
