On 21 October 2019, in the House of Representatives the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Boleslav Pirshtuk, met with the parliamentary delegation of the Slovak Republic led by the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Head of the Group of Friendship with Belarus, Robert Madej.
Boleslav Pirshtuk warmly welcomed the Slovak colleagues, noting the regularity and consistency of the Belarusian-Slovak contacts, as well as emphasizing the huge potential for expanding bilateral cooperation.
In addition, the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives focused on security issues in the region. He stressed the need for parliamentarians to return to this topic once again in order to build such leverages and formulas of influence on the processes taking place on the continent, which would definitely allow the establishment of a stable peace here. In this regard, the Belarusian initiative the Helsinki-2 is becoming more relevant.
The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, speaking about the attractiveness of our country for mutually beneficial cooperation, mentioned the IT-sphere and told about the activities of the High-Tech Park and the Great stone industrial park.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting the active work of friendship groups.
The participants of the meeting stressed the positive dynamics of interaction not only in the parliamentary sphere, but also at such levels as: between governments, foreign-policy establishments, ministries, and business circles.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Budget and Finance, Head of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of the Slovak Republic, Lyudmila Dobrynina, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Slovak Republic, Igor Leshchenya, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Belarus, Joseph Migaš.
