On 30 October 2019, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Belarus Aloisia Worgetter.
Vladimir Andreichenko noted the high level of the Belarusian-Austrian political contacts, constructive inter-parliamentary cooperation, also in the framework of the OSCE PA.
According to the
Chairman of the House of Representatives, active interaction should be
maintained and supported, especially through the implementation of significant
Aloisia Worgetter also emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation for expanding ties in all areas. According to the Austrian diplomat, Austrian investors are interested in the Belarusian economy.
Both sides noted
that inter-parliamentary cooperation could play a significant role in
establishing direct ties between the regions of the two countries.
Prospects of research cooperation were also discussed during the meeting. In particular, the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between Belarus and Austria.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives expressed his gratitude to the Austrian side for the many years of work of Austrian public organizations in implementing trips to Austria for the rehabilitation of children from the regions of Belarus affected by the Chernobyl accident.
The meeting was attended by the deputy chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs Olga Popko, member of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media Andrei Naumovich.
