On 5 October 2018, in the framework of the Autumn meeting of the OSCE PA, which takes place in Bishkek (the Kyrgyz Republic), Andrei Rybak, the Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Industry, Fuel-Energy Complex, Transport and Communications took part in the Meeting of the Standing Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Meeting of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE PA.
At the meeting of the OSCE PA Standing Committee, George Tsereteli, the President of the Assembly, did a review of current international political issues. The reports of Lord Peter Bowness, the Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on the Rules of Procedure, Doris Barnett, the Treasurer of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and Roberto Montella, the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, were also heard.
The participants of the meeting were presented with the reports on the Activities of the Special Committees and Special Representatives of the OSCE PA, the Report on Election Observation Mission of the OSCE PA to Turkey, as well as information about the upcoming meetings of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in 2019.
During the 4th Meeting of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE PA Andrei Rybak addressed to the participants of the meeting with the information about the Minsk International Conference of the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group to be held in the spring of 2019.
It was proposed to devote the topics of the Belarusian conference to the potential of cooperation in the region, including the potential of the Republic of Belarus as an important link in the context of the Silk Road Economic Belt formation, in particular, to the topical issues of legal regulation of the investment and tourism sectors in the context of the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative, as well as to the prospects for infrastructure development along the Silk Road through the digitalization of national economies. On the second day of the conference, participants would be able to get acquainted with the investment opportunities of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park “Great Stone” and promising projects implemented in its territory.
Members of the Swiss delegation to the OSCE PA presented the theme and draft program of the International Conference of the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group, to be held in September 2019 in Switzerland.
There was also a discussion of the draft Guidelines for International events of the of the Group and the planned amendments to its Statute.
