On 9 November 2021, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Pham Hai on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission.
Vladimir Andreichenko recognized Pham Hai’s personal contribution to the development of Belarusian-Vietnamese relations during his time in Belarus. “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago our cooperation has been developing steadily and has never stopped. Therefore, we appreciate your contribution to this process. You have set up a very good foundation for your successor,” he said.
During the conversation the sides
also stressed the meaningfulness of Belarus-Vietnam cooperation, including
interparliamentary level.
According to the Head of the House of
Representatives, the Belarusian side is interested in ensuring that the
cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries will continue to
develop positively. He informed that a friendship group with the Parliament of
Vietnam was set up in the Parliament of Belarus and expressed confidence that
such a friendship group will also be set up in the Parliament of Vietnam in the
nearest future. “We suggested that after this group is set up there will be an
online meeting where we will determine the areas of our cooperation both on a
bilateral basis and in international organizations,” Andreichenko said. In his
opinion, such tradition should be continued in order to activate further
cooperation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary
Assembly.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives emphasized that the countries need to develop further trade and economic cooperation.
The sides also discussed potassium chloride supply, the operation of a joint venture to assemble trucks, development of modern agricultural equipment for rice harvesting and other issues. The sides paid special attention to the development of cooperation in education, tourism, as well as the supply of agricultural products.
For his part, Pham Hai said he was
leaving Belarus with a feeling of devotion for the country and its hospitable people.
“I have been to many countries around the world, but I have never had such a
feeling,” he stressed. Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the leadership and
the Belarusians for the humanitarian assistance provided to Vietnam in the
fight against
COVID-19.
