On July 26, 2018 Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Belarus Artur Michalski on the occasion of the commencement of his diplomatic mission.
At the meeting issues of the Belarusian-Polish parliamentary relations, development of trade and economic cooperation were discussed.
Speaking about recent visits to Berlin and Warsaw, Boleslav Pirshtuk spoke about contacts with Polish parliamentarians and their interest in interacting more actively with Belarus on the international area.
Speaking about trade and economic relations, Boleslav Pirshtuk noted the great potential for the growth of trade between the two countries. He informed on the work on the formation of favourable conditions for the development of information technologies and the creation of a digital economy in Belarus. He stressed the need to expand the dialogue at the working groups level formed in the parliaments of the two countries.
Boleslav Pirshtuk informed about the efforts of Belarus to develop tourism potential and the decision to extend the period of visa-free stay of foreign citizens in Belarus to 30 days. “We need to create maximum conditions for the free movement of people. The more people to people contacts there are, the more effective our results will be”, he said.
Artur Michalski thanked Boleslav Pirshtuk for the frank dialogue, focused attention on the importance of building a policy of good-neighborliness and excluding the element of disbelief from the relations between our countries. Welcomed the decision of the Belarusian side to expand the visa-free regime, noting its importance for the development of contacts between people.
After the meeting the parties agreed to continue the practice of active inter-parliamentary cooperation.
