The parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representative Boleslav Pirshtuk continues to take part in the 27th annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Berlin (Federal Republic of Germany).
8 July 2018, members of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus took part in the meeting of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Two deputy chairmen of the Group were elected within the meeting, as well as the application for membership of the French delegation was supported.
The head of the Belarusian delegation Boleslav Pirshtuk addressed the participants of the meeting with the presentation of the theme of the international conference of the Group “Investment attractiveness of the Republic of Belarus in the context of the formation of the Economic belt of the Silk Road”, which is scheduled to be held in Minsk in spring of 2019.
Boleslav Pirshtuk noted that the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE PA becomes an effective parliamentary platform for discussing a diverse range of issues of political, trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation. Boleslav Pirshtuk suggested to focus the Minsk meeting on the potential of cooperation in the region, including the opportunities of the Republic of Belarus as an important link in the context of the formation of the Silk Road Economic Zone.
Belarusian parliamentarians took an active part in the work of the OSCE PA General Committees on Political Affairs and Security, on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment, on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions.
In their speeches the members of the Belarusian delegation stated the position of the Republic of Belarus on the main points of the international agenda.
Speaking at the meeting of the OSCE PA General Committee on Political Affairs and Security Valery Voronetsky reminded parliamentarians of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the 26th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk last year to launch of a new large-scale international dialogue on security issues similar to Helsinki aimed at overcoming existing contradictions in the relations of states in the common space of the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasia. The Belarusian parliamentarian reaffirmed the willingness of Belarus to continue actively working within the OSCE to address transnational challenges and threats, told about the OSCE High-Level Conference “Prevention and Combating Terrorism in the Digital Age” which will be held on 9 –– 10 October 2018, in Minsk.
Boleslav Pirshtuk in his speech at the meeting of the OSCE PA General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment focused on the necessity to promote economic progress in the OSCE region through the development of human capital, good governance models, combating corruption and money laundering, innovation and promotion of the digital economy.
The head of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus directed attention of the members of the Assembly to the draft resolution of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly “Promotion of the digital economy in the interests of ensuring the economic growth in the OSCE area” initiated by the Belarusian parliamentarians. The draft resolution touches the issues of transition and adaptation of society to the digital economy, harmonization of standards and international cooperation for rapprochement of states and the digitization of international trade. The draft resolution will be considered at the meeting of the OSCE PA General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment.All news
