15 November 2017, the visit of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation led by Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, concluded with a meeting with Omar al-Bashir, President of the Republic of the Sudan.
The key issues of the Belarusian-Sudanese relations were discussed with an emphasis on the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in the light of the results of negotiations held in Khartoum in January 2017 between the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Omar al-Bashir.
In particular, the issues of cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation, agriculture, development of the natural resources of the Republic of the Sudan were raised.
A high level of political relations was established, including ties between the parliaments “as bridges uniting two friendly countries”.
The importance of the parliamentary channel of interaction was noted for developing recommendations and informing the leaders of the two countries on improving the effectiveness of the Belarusian-Sudanese cooperation.
The President of the Republic of the Sudan highly appreciated the role of the parliamentarians in promoting trade, economic, humanitarian ties and business contacts between the two countries.
The importance of the mechanism of the inter-parliamentary cooperation for monitoring the state and development of the legal framework between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of the Sudan was noted.
Both sides stressed that the contracts signed during the visit would really contribute to the joint efforts to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The President of the Republic of the Sudan and the Chairman of the House of Representatives considered further steps to continue active political dialogue and implementation of existing agreements in the field of trade and economic cooperation.
