22 September 2017, in the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk, deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, had a meeting with parliamentary delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium led by Ms. Yoleen Van Camp,the deputy of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of the Kingdom of Belgium, the head of the Section on relations with Belarus, which was formed in the Belgian national group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Opening the meeting, Boleslav Pirshtuk stated that a new stage of the Belarusian-Belgian inter-parliamentary relations has come and its main task at the moment is to strengthen their activity. The deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives believes that Belgium is a positive orienting point for the Belarusian economy, thanks to its high level of social and economic development.
Yoleen Van Camp, in turn, thanked her Belarusian colleagues for the invitation to visit the Republic of Belarus and stated that she regards this visit as a good opportunity to exchange views and get acquainted with the political and economic system of Belarus.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of energy, health, environment and humanitarian ties in the context of the sustainable development of the whole complex of Belarusian-Belgian relations and the promotion of a positive image of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Liudmila Makarina-Kibak, the chairperson of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy, the head of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of the Kingdom of Belgium, Dmitry Shevtsov, deputy chairperson of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives on International Affairs.
