7 August 2019, Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, had a meeting with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Belarus Andrea Wiktorin on the occasion of completion of her diplomatic mission in Belarus.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives expressed his gratitude to A.Wiktorin for her active work in our country.
It was noted that
over the past four years, a number of visits of high-level delegations of the
European Union, members of the European Parliament was held, regional
cooperation and humanitarian cooperation have become demanded, and the
beginning of work with the European Investment Bank has opened new
opportunities for the implementation of infrastructure projects taking into
account the great transit potential of the Republic Belarus.
Special attention was paid to the development of inter-parliamentary contacts with the EU. The Chairman of the House of Representatives wished successful work to the new President of the European Parliament, David Maria Sassoli.
For her part, A.Wiktorin
shared her assessment of the relations development between the European Union
and the Republic of Belarus, emphasizing that they have made significant
progress.
According to the Head
of the EU Delegation, the European Union is interested in developing relations
with the Republic of Belarus in all areas, including promoting expansion of
cooperation with international financial organizations, supporting small and
medium-sized businesses.
A.Wiktorin expressed gratitude to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for openness and a constructive approach that allows to cooperate on a variety of topics.
During the meeting other issues related to the development of the dialogue between Belarus and the EU were touched upon.
