April 29, 2019 an International Parliamentary Conference of the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group “Belt and Road: Deepening Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Prosperity” opens in Minsk.
The event is attended by the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly G.Tsereteli, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation A.Hajiyev, parliamentary delegations of the OSCE Member States, representatives of the diplomatic corps.
During the conference there will be held discussions on topics:
Realization of the Belt and Road Initiative as a Factor of Economic Growth and Increase of Investment Attractiveness of the Participating States: Challenges and Ways of Development;
Implementation of International Infrastructure Projects — the Basis for the Success of the Belt and Road Initiative;
Using the Potential of the Belt and Road Initiative to Boost Humanitarian Cooperation and Tourist Attractiveness of the Participating States.
In addition, a number of bilateral meetings are planned.
The Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE PA was established on July 8, 2017 at the 26th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk.
The Group includes parliamentarians from Austria, Azerbaijan, Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Georgia, Spain, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, France, Croatia, Montenegro and Switzerland.
The Group’s activities within the OSCE PA are aimed at expanding the areas of cooperation and strengthening political, economic and cultural ties between the OSCE participating States.
The Group plays a role of a platform to promote mutually beneficial economic and trade ties through the development of transport corridors, transport facilitation measures and trade procedures, facilitating the free and safe movement of people, goods, services and investments.
