On 13 April 2021, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong.

During the meeting the Chairman of the House of Representatives stressed that Belarus and China are linked by long-standing friendly relations the positive dynamics of which is determined by fruitful contacts between the leaders of the two states. As noted by Vladimir Andreichenko: “Very important negotiations took place in January between the President of Belarus and the President of China. Important issues were discussed about increasing supplies of food products to China, potassium chloride, the development of relations between the regions of Belarus and China, issues of combating COVID-19”. He also expressed appreciation to the Chinese leadership and people for the supply of 100 thousand doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Belarus.

 The best wishes and an invitation to visit Belarus at a convenient date were extended by the Chairman of the House of Representatives to the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu.


Speaking about promising areas of cooperation, Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized the need to further enhance the interaction within international organizations. One of the topics of such interaction may be the promotion of Belarusian and Chinese information security initiatives, without which it is impossible to ensure the stability and security of either a single country or the world as a whole. In addition, according to the Chairman of the House of Representatives, it is necessary to increase the number of jointly implemented large-scale projects in the areas of trade, high technologies, transport and logistics, education, medicine, to intensify the development of interregional cooperation, including the exchange of experience in creating “smart cities”. At the same time, it was noted that parliamentarians are ready to participate in relevant work, to use friendship groups created in the parliaments of the two countries to coordinate interaction in these and other areas.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China conveyed greetings and best wishes from the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu to the Chairman of the House of Representatives. He expressed full agreement with the made high assessment of the level of Belarusian-Chinese relations. Xie Xiaoyong emphasized “We support your country in defending your sovereignty and independence. And we respect the path chosen by Belarus in accordance with its realities”.


According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China, mutually beneficial Chinese-Belarusian cooperation is developing steadily and fruitfully, understanding and trust are strengthening every year, mutual support is provided in international affairs, in combating the pandemic, there is interest in joining efforts to promote initiatives on cyber security. The Great Stone Industrial Park is successfully developing.

Chinese consumers buy Belarusian products with pleasure, they like Belarusian food products, and the country's leadership welcomes the arrival of Belarusian manufacturers to the Chinese market. All this testifies to the fact that the relationship between Belarus and China has great potential, the implementation of which largely depends on the interaction of the legislative bodies of both countries, directly involved in the formation of the legal framework of bilateral relations. Further, the parties discussed current topics of the Belarusian-Chinese relations, including bilateral inter-parliamentary events in the near future. At the same time, the main emphasis was placed on issues of promoting the expansion of interaction in such areas as economics, trade, science, education, investment cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Head of the Working Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Cooperation with the Parliament of the People's Republic of China Valery Mitskevich.
