On 13 July 2021, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Valery Mitskevich met with the Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Deputy of the Islamic Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Head of the Working group on cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus Аbolfazl Amouei.

At the meeting, the sides underscored the friendly attitude and closeness of the two countries.

Valery Mitskevich noted that Iran is a traditional partner of the Republic of Belarus, and the Belarusian parliamentarians value and cherish the friendly ties with their Iranian colleagues, which are built on mutual trust and common interests.

The working groups formed in the parliaments of both countries are an engine for the development of the bilateral inter-parliamentary relations. And there is already a positive example of their joint work — in May the Chairperson of the Standing Commission on International Affairs, Head of the Working Group of the National Assembly of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of Iran Andrei Savinykh met with the Chairperson of the Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy of the Islamic Parliament of Iran Mojtaba Zonnour and Head of the Working Group on cooperation with the Parliament of Belarus Аbolfazl Amouei in a videoconference format.

The Iranian MP praised the level of contacts between the two countries in the political and international spheres, noting that “today, in view of some countries’ attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, we should cooperate even more than before”. According to Amouei, it is necessary to intensify relations in the economic, trade and investment spheres through the search for new opportunities and areas for cooperation.

The delegation will visit the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, the Great Stone Industrial Park, the Minsk Automobile Plant, the Belarusian National Technical University, including the Polytechnic Science and Technology Park, and the Minsk City Technopark to get acquainted with the industrial and innovation potential of Belarus.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Working Group of the National Assembly of Belarus on cooperation with the Iranian Parliament Andrei Savinykh and its members: Deputy Irina Ryneiskaya and Senator Yury Derkach, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Iran Dmitry Koltsov.
