On 16 April 2021, the fifty-second plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) was held.

One of the important topics of the plenary session is the legislative regulation of migration processes during the pandemic and the role of the parliaments of the CIS member states. As a result of its discussion, a model Migration Code for the CIS member states was adopted. During the session, a number of important laws in the social sphere and in the field of healthcare were also considered. These are model laws “On ensuring the rights of children to health care in the CIS member states”, "On psychiatric care and guarantees of citizens’ rights in its provision”, “On clinical guidelines for the provision of medical care in the CIS member states”. In addition, the participants discussed the preparations for the IX Nevsky International Ecological Congress, scheduled for 27-28 May 2021, and the third Eurasian Women’s Forum, which will be held on 13-15 October 2021.

The results of the observation of the election campaigns held this year were analyzed and a number of other issueswere considered. Following the results of the IPA CIS events held on 15-16 April 2021, a briefing was held, at which it was noted that, despite all the problems, the activities of the Assembly over the past period were dynamic and effective. The IPA CIS has become a truly international platform that helps in solving many problems. Representatives of more than 40 countries took part in the international conference “Global Threats and Challenges in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic – Terrorism and Violent Extremism”. Also, within the framework of the plenary session, a solemn ceremony of awarding the IPA CIS Prize named after Chingiz Aytmatov to the Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Philology, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gnilomedov was held. The plenary session was attended by the Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on State Building, Local Government and Regulations Valentin Semenyako.
