On 16 March 2021, the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly jointly with the Parliamentary Forum on Small Arms and Light Weapons held a webinar on the theme “Connecting the Dots: Enhancing implementation of the Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects (PoA) and the Women, Peace and Security and 2030 Agendas – through increased parliamentary engagement and action in international processes”.
The online event served as a preparatory phase for the Seventh Biennial Meeting of States of the PoA, scheduled for July 2021.
The webinar examined the role of parliaments in preventing and reducing Small Arms and Light Weapons-related violence. Part of the discussion was devoted to the implementation of the PoA in Southeast Asia.
