On 17 April 2020, the Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs Andrei Savinykh met with the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki in order to define specific areas of joint cooperation in the future. The meeting was held in the office of the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus.

During the meeting the parties stressed the high level of interaction between the Republic of Belarus and the UN system, which should be further enhanced.

Mr. Savinykh expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with all agencies of the UN Country Team in Belarus, which currently has a sufficient solid foundation. He also informed that the House of Representatives is planning to make a practical contribution to the implementation of the largest in the history of the UN campaign on Global Conversation “UN75” and to hold for this purpose a round table on the topic “The UN in the XXI century”. During the conversation Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki and representatives of the UN Country Team in Belarus were invited to participate in it.

In her turn, Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki as Resident Coordinator of the activities of the UN Country Team in Belarus, confirmed her readiness for further fruitful cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus, including in the framework of organizing and conducting joint events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in Belarus.

The parties also exchanged views on further interaction in implementing joint projects in various areas of activity focused on the national priorities of the Republic of Belarus.
