On 17 June 2020, a video-conference was held between member of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs, the head of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of Japan Anna Starovoitova and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Belarus Hiroki Tokunaga.
During the conversation the parties exchanged their opinions on the current state and trends of Belarusian-Japanese relations. The importance of expanding the inter-parliamentary dialogue, as well as the development of the legal framework was noted by both sides.
Mutual interest was expressed in establishing closer ties in the fields of economy, trade, education and culture.
Particular attention was paid to issues related to overcoming the consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants.
