As part of the implementation of the Union State project "Overhaul, restoration and museumification of the Brest Fortress structures in the Brest Hero Fortress" memorial complex, work was carried out to preserve the objects of historical and cultural heritage and expand the population’s access to cultural values ​​and information. The parliamentarians noted the high historical significance of the implementation of these projects and recommended that the Standing Committee of the Union State, together with the interested ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia, intensify activities on the development and implementation of projects, programs and events of the Union State aimed at preserving the memory of great historical deeds and creating memorable places associated with the history of the Great Patriotic War.

The deputies proposed to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to act as state customers of the project of the Union State for the further implementation of work, including overhaul, restoration and museumification of the objects of the Brest Fortress, at the expense of the budget of the Union State from 2022. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministries of Culture, the Ministries of Health of Belarus and Russia, as well as members of the Youth Chamber at the Parliamentary Assembly.
