On 2 February 2017, at the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, had a meeting with Mian Raza Rabbani, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The two
sides exchanged views on deepening the Belarusian-Pakistani relations.
The Chairman
of the House of Representatives noted that the inter-parliamentary relations
were assessed as an important component of the bilateral cooperation in the
Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the
Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Vladimir
Andreichenko informed the Pakistani side about the visit of the parliamentary
delegation of the Republic of Belarus to Pakistan scheduled in April 2017.
The Chairman
of the Senate noted that parliamentary diplomacy played an important role in
the development of the bilateral ties.
The sides
discussed issues of cooperation in international parliamentary organizations.
Mian Raza Rabbani suggested cooperating closely within the framework of the
Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Considerable
attention was paid to the expansion of the legal framework, development of
relations in the trade and economic sphere and other areas of mutual interest.
Vladimir
Andreichenko stressed that the Belarusian parliamentarians were ready to join
the work of the three joint Belarusian-Pakistani intergovernmental commissions
on trade-economic, scientific-technical and military-technical cooperation.
Both sides
noted that the visit of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the
Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus was a proof of the
positive dynamics of development of mutually beneficial bilateral dialogue.
The meeting
was attended by Andrei Rybak, chairman
of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National
Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Industry, Fuel-Energy Complex, Transport
and Communication, Sergei Rakhmanov, chairman of the Standing Committee of the
Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for
Foreign Affairs and National Security, Dmitry Goborov, deputy chairman of the
Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of
the Republic of Belarus on State Building, Local Government and Regulations,
head of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus
on cooperation with the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ivan
Korzh, deputy chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of
Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on
International Affairs, as well as Andrei Ermolovich, Ambassador Extraordinary
and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of
Pakistan.
