On 21 February 2019, the Belarusian parliamentary delegation headed by Boleslav Pirshtuk, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus took part in the activities of the first day of the 18th Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly: the Standing Committee meeting, the Joint Session of the three General Committees, as well as the meetings of the General Committees on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment and on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions.
At the meeting of the General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment Boleslav Pirtshtuk noted in his speech that Belarus consistently promoting higher role and status of the economic and environmental dimension of work in the OSCE. The head of the Belarusian delegation believed that economic and ecological issues should have a priority reflection in the OSCE PA resolution.
Also Boleslav Pirtshtuk announced the Belarusian initiative to prepare and submit to the upcoming summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly a resolution on the subject of strategic forecasting. It is proposed to focus in it on the role of science, technology and innovation in addressing global and regional issues.
At the meeting
of the Standing Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the heads of the
delegations reviewed current international political events, as well as the
activities of the Assembly and the preparation of forthcoming meetings in
Luxembourg and Morocco in 2019.
