On 30 January 2018, in the House of Representatives, Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, had a meeting with Mahmadsharif Haqdod, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted that Belarus and Tajikistan traditionally enjoyed warm and friendly relations. Evidence of this was the long-term fruitful cooperation between the two countries.

Considering the presidency of Tajikistan in the CISin 2018, the sides exchanged views on cooperation within the framework of this integration structure, including the improvement of its statutory bodies. The Chairman of the House of Representatives stressed that the CIS member states should develop common agreed positions on the international arena and jointly defend the interests of individual countries of the CIS.

According to Vladimir Andreichenko, parliamentarians should contribute to the development of trade and economic relations. Both sides stressed the need to expand the practice of implementing joint projects in industrial, agricultural and other areas to increase mutual trade.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted that about 60 bilateral documents had been concluded between Belarus and Tajikistan. Other 15 drafts were under consideration by the parties. The Chairman of the House of Representatives declared the readiness of the parliamentarians to render the necessary assistance in the speedy conclusion of these international documents.

The Tajik diplomat assured that during his mission in Belarus he would look for new growth points in the bilateral cooperation, including culture, tourism, education, etc.

The sides also agreed on the need to intensify the dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries and the signing of an agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation. A key role in this belongs to the friendship groups formed in the parliaments of the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Valery Voronetsky, chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs.
