On 5 February 2020, the working group of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of Germany headed by Valery Voronetsky met with the members of the German-Belarusian parliamentary group of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany with Mark Hauptmann as its head.
During an open dialogue of mutual interest, the parliamentarians continued discussing issues regarding increasing bilateral political cooperation, expanding trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in the field of economy and knowledge, high technologies, digitalization, energy, sustainable development, and tourism.
Special attention was also paid to issues regarding cooperation in the field of culture, information, expanding contacts between journalists of the two countries, preserving historical memory, and regional ties. Additionally, they discussed regional security, and the prospects of establishing closer cooperation between EAEU and EU, CSTO and NATO.
The parties agreed to continue the dialogue within the framework of the Belarus — Germany Strategic Advisory group, which will hold its first introductory meeting next week in Berlin.
The meeting was attended by Vladimir Azarenko, Lilia Ananich, Aleksei Yegorov, Ivan Mamaiko, Pavel Mikhalyuk, Yulia Murina, Anatoly Nasenya, Zhanna Stativko, deputies-members of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of Germany from the House of Representatives, and the member from the Council of the Republic Andrei Rusakovich, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Manfred Huterer.
