On August 8, 2019, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko held a meeting at the House of Representatives with the British Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus Fiona Gibb in connection with the completion of her work in Minsk.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives expressed his gratitude to F.Gibb for her efforts to develop Belarusian-British relations.
It was noted that over the past three years, both sides have made significant progress in developing the entire range of ties, and the signed bilateral agreements on cooperation in various fields provide a good basis for their further strengthening.
Speaking about the inter-parliamentary dialogue, the Chairman of the House of Representatives expressed gratitude to the British side for supporting the Belarusian resolution “Strategic forecast in the areas of science, technology and innovation for sustainable development", adopted during the annual session of the OSCE PA in Luxembourg in July 2019.
Separately, V.Andreichenko noted the contribution of F.Gibb to the intensification of interregional cooperation.
For her part, F.Gibb welcomed the positive dynamics in the development of political contacts and trade and economic ties between the two countries. In addition, an increase in the interest of British companies in doing business with Belarus was noted, in particular in areas such as agriculture, high technology and healthcare.
An exchange of views took place on the prospects for increasing investment interaction.
The issues of interregional, educational, humanitarian and business ties development, small and medium enterprises support were also discussed.
