On December 12, 2019 Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko held a meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam headed by the President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
The parties exchanged views on the state and prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation both on a bilateral basis and within international parliamentary organizations.
Vladimir Andreichenko noted that Belarus and Vietnam are linked by years of friendship and mutual support. Cooperation with your country is one of the priority areas of Belarusian foreign policy in the Asian region, he stressed. In general the approaches of the two countries coincide on the international agenda. Both states support the strengthening of the role of the UN in the field of strengthening peace and stability.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives is convinced that today it is fundamentally important to give an additional impetus to our dialogue. At the same time, he emphasized that countries need to strengthen economic cooperation. Our economies do not compete with each other, while they are complementary. What is produced in Belarus is in demand in Vietnam, and Vietnamese products are in demand in Belarus.
Vladimir Andreichenko also said that in the near future a new friendship group with Vietnam will be created in the National Assembly.
In turn, the President of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan emphasized the importance of interaction between the countries and thanked for the warm welcome. She noted that the purpose of her visit was to develop and deepen traditional friendship, multifaceted cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam, including at the level of parliaments.
From the Belarusian side the meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Valery Mitskevich, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs Andrei Savinykh, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs and National Security Sergey Rachkov, deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Liliya Ananich, Petr Vabishchevich, Irina Kralevich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vladimir Goshin.
