On February 17-18, 2021, in a videoconference format, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, together with the UN, held parliamentary hearings on the topic "Fighting corruption to restore trust in government and improve development prospects".
The conference was held in preparation for the special session of the UN General Assembly on the fight against corruption, which is scheduled for June 2-4, 2021 in New York.
The key emphasis was placed on the need to unite efforts in the fight against corruption within the framework of the implementation of the 2003 UN Convention against Corruption, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the Belarusian side, the online event was attended by members of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on National Security MP Marina Lenchevskaya M.A. and MP Ivan Mamaiko., as well as deputy chairman of the Standing Commission on Legislation MP Alexander Omelyanyuk.
