On November 14, 2017, the meeting of the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk with the Chairman of the Committee on Health Care of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Stefan Zelnik and the members of the Committee Tibor Bastrnak and Juraj Blanar took place.
The sides discussed the development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the Republic of Belarus and the Slovak Republic.
Boleslav Pirshtuk briefed Slovak colleagues on the main promising sectors of the Belarusian economy for the purposes of bilateral cooperation. Special attention was paid to the consistent policy pursued by the Belarusian state in the sphere of education, medicine, social protection of the population, development of small and medium-sized businesses.
In turn Stefan Zelnik thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome. He stressed the high quality of agricultural products produced in Belarus and expressed interest in studying the Belarusian experience of its production against the backdrop of the growing demand for it in the Slovak Republic.
Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak drew the attention of Slovak parliamentarians to the high technological level of medical services rendered in Belarus. As promising areas for further bilateral cooperation, she noted transplantology, pharmaceuticals, joint research, interaction on the lines of university and postgraduate medical education.
Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Commission on International Affairs Olga Popko also attended the meeting.
