The parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by Boleslav Pirshtuk, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, will take part in the 28th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held in Luxembourg (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) from 4 to 8 July 2019.
The Belarusian delegation includes the Valery Voronetsky, Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs.
The main theme of the session is “Advancing Sustainable Development to Promote Security: The Role of Parliaments”. The event will be devoted to discussing the adoption by the parliaments of the participating States of effective legislative measures aimed at strengthening international cooperation and promoting sustainable development as an important prerequisite for ensuring peace and security in the OSCE region.
A number of meetings with parliamentarians and OSCE PA officials are planned to be held during the 28th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The annual session will culminate in election of the OSCE PA President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and other OSCE PA officials, as well as in the adoption of the Luxembourg Declaration, containing recommendations to the 57 nations of the OSCE in the fields of political affairs, security, economics, environment, human rights and humanitarian questions.
